Emily Ley’s Simplified Homeschool Planner is a full-size undated paper planner with a striped hard cover and gold accents. It has a sturdy wire-o spiral binding and can easily serve 6 students. Pages are 8.5 x 11.

This planner is lovely and very well-made but the pages and layout are typical of most basic homeschool planners. Though it does come with five pages of cute stickers – that’s over 700 stickers!

The planner has 6 tabbed sections but there are no dividers between sections. The sections include goals, plans, books, ideas, meals, and notes.

The first section is the goals section, which includes pages with the following topics:

  • Family mission statement
  • Core values
  • Personal goals
  • Child-specific goals
  • Looking back
  • Looking ahead
  • Weekly and daily routines
  • Important dates

The second section is for plans, which includes 12 monthly 2-page spreads that are completely undated. These monthly pages are all together and include simplicity tips in each corner.

These monthly pages are followed by 52 weekly 2-page spreads. The weekly spreads have 5 rows with labels for Monday through Friday, though they are otherwise undated. There are 6 unlabeled columns and one notes column. These could be used for individual subject planning or you could use one column for each child.

The next section of the planner includes a reading log and several pages for reading lists.

Section four is for ideas, including field trip ideas, project ideas, and supplies lists. In my opinion, this section has too many pages for what those idea titles. But you could easily use the pages for other ideas, changing titles.

The next section includes 28 pages for weekly meal planning and grocery lists. These are a nice addition to a homeschool planner, but I did notice there are not enough pages to complete a full year.

The last section for notes includes many lined pages for notes, a few pages for a quote log, and several pages for tracking online resources and passwords.

While this planner is well-made and nice, it is very basic and lacking in anything unique separating itself from other homeschool planners. One of the main pages I feel is missing from this planner is a sheet for attendance records. It also does not include weekends, making this planner not very useful for anything outside of basic lesson tracking.

The planner is also quite expensive for what you get. It is similar in price to some of the very unique and customizable homeschool planners I have reviewed. If you are a fan of other Simplified planners, this will likely be a good option for you, but I do not see this drawing many new customers to the brand.
