The Schoolnest Homeschool Lesson Planning Notebooks are a set of homeschool planners available on Amazon. These undated planners are very minimal, leaving lots of space for customization and creativity. Many of the pages have a bullet-journal feel with lots of open space and a dot grid for easy customization.
The Schoolnest notebooks all have colorful cardstock covers with unique designs. They are 8.5″ x 11″ with a perfect binding, which is a typical soft-cover book style.
The Schoolnest notebooks come in a variety of series and styles, each of which has slight differences. There are currently 4 series of homeschool Lesson Planning Notebooks, including:
- Bouquet Series
- Jungle Series
- Mystic Series
- Nature Series
All but the bouquet series comes in two versions, a regular version and a minimalist version. The regular versions include all the same pages as the minimalist version with a few more added.
The covers and inside doodles for each series are different, but those are not the only differences between versions. While many of the pages are the same between the series, each series has a few differences within some pages, order, and layout. I will discuss these differences below.
All of the notebooks are undated and cover 12 months.
These are the pages that are found in most of the books:
- Year overview – 12 squares for an annual calendar or important dates by month.
- Curriculum – Plan curriculum by subject or by child.
- Classes – List online or co-op classes.
- Field trips – plan ideas or track field trips.
- Book lists – List books you want to read or have already completed.
- Curriculum progress trackers – Track up to 180 days per curriculum by coloring in squares as you go. Several trackers are included in each book.
- Attendance trackers – Chart style attendance trackers by month. 1-2 included per book.
- 12 monthly calendars – Undated and unlabeled blank monthly calendars. Add in months, dates, and days of the week as you use them.
- Weekly checklist and notes– Use for weekly planning.
- Weekly schedule overview – Get an overall view of your week.
- Weekly lesson planning – A 2-page spread with 6×7 unlabeled chart. Use this for planning lessons and other activities. Can use it for planning 6 days for 7 subjects/children, or 7 days for 6 subjects/children.
- Daily Details – Use one column each day for more details. (Not included in minimalist versions)
- Weekly reflections – open-ended monthly page for journaling, tracking, or memory-keeping. (Not included in minimalist versions)
- End of the year reflections – Track what went well, and what changes you’d like to make in the future.
Bouquet Series
The Gold Bouquet series is the first version of the Schoolnest Homeschool Lesson Planning Notebook. It came out in 2021 and has a nice golden cover with flowers and a minimal interior. It has 458 pages.
This version is different from the following versions because this is the only version with the weekly spreads interspersed within the monthly spreads. All the other versions have all the monthlies up front, followed by all the weeklies. It also only has 48 weekly sections, with 4 weeks per month.
Many of the other pages are basically the same in every edition, with a few minor design changes, like fonts, banners, and such.
There are a couple bigger things that are different in this planner than some of the others. The attendance tracking page has 2 full-year trackers on one page. It also has a full-page weekly timetable for every week, rather than a simple weekly overview like others have.
The monthly calendar spread is also only a one-page spread, while the Nature and Mystic series both have 2-page monthly calendars.
Overall, the bouquet series is a solid planner and has several unique pages that some may prefer over the other versions.

Jungle Series
The Jungle Series is the second version of the Schoolnest Homeschool Lesson Planning Notebook and was released in 2022. The two planners in this series both have a jungle themed cover with green and teal backgrounds.
With this series, there are now 2 versions in each series. The regular version and an added minimalist version, which removes the daily detail layouts and weekly reflections pages to reduce the page number. Though do realize that the minimalist version is still a pretty hefty homeschool planner, coming in at 260 pages versus the 466 in the regular version.
There are a few small updates to page designs, mostly to font and decorative banners. A few minor layout changes have been done as well.
There are a few more notable changes with the Jungle series. The biggest change is that the weekly spreads are separated from the monthly spreads. All the monthly spreads are now all together before all the weeklies, with a full 52 weeks included in both the regular and minimalist versions.
Another change with this planner is that the attendance tracker is now a full page, with just one tracker included for your whole family. The weekly overview is no longer a timetable, but instead just a space entitled schedule to use how you like.
The Jungle series of these planners is a great option for a homeschool planner.

Mystic Series
The Mystic Series of the Schoolnest Homeschool Lesson Planning Notebook was released in 2023. It has a mystic theme with stars, flowers, moons, and the like. This series has two versions, the regular and the minimalist, with purple and green covers, respectively.
As with the previous Jungle series, there are two versions of this Mystic planner series, a regular notebook, and a minimalist version. Just as before, the Schoolnest Homeschool Lesson Planning Minimalist Notebook does not include daily details and weekly reflections while the regular version does. This is the main difference between the versions.
The regular version comes in at a whopping 440 pages, while the minimalist has just under 300.
Most of the pages in the Mystic series are the same as previous versions, with a few differences. One of the biggest differences is that the 12 included monthly calendars are now 2-page spreads rather than one as before. Though they are still all placed together with the weekly spreads all together later in the book.
There are 12 monthly spreads, but this series includes only 42 weeks in the regular version, but 52 weekly spreads in the minimalist version.
The weekly schedule and checklist are now moved to be splitting a page, rather than being on facing pages. This makes the blank areas more usable as a weekly overview on one full page. The weekly schedule overview now has spaces with the days of the week listed. Monday is at the top of the list, down to Sunday at the bottom.
The other bigger change to the layouts within the planner is that the end-of-year reflections now also include pages for curriculum reflections as well as separate pages for your plans for next year.
It is good to note that the Mystic series is basically identical to the Nature series. These Notebooks were all released in 2023. The differences come in their cover designs. They also now include some thematic doodles within the pages of the planner, just to decorate some of the blank spaces.
The Mystic series of the Schoolnest Homeschool Lesson Planning Notebook is a lovely planner that would be of great help for organizing your homeschool.

Nature Series
The Nature Series of the Schoolnest Homeschool Lesson Planning Notebook was released in 2023. It has a nature theme with flowers, bugs, mushrooms, and butterflies on the cover. This series has two versions, the regular and the minimalist, with sage green and cream backgrounds, respectively.
Just like other series, there are two versions of this nature series of planners, a regular notebook, and a minimalist version. Just as before, the Schoolnest Homeschool Lesson Planning Minimalist Notebook in the nature series does not include daily details and weekly reflections while the regular version does. This is the main difference between the versions.
The regular version has 440 pages, while the minimalist has just under 300.
The pages in the nature series are generally the same as the previous Jungle versions but with a few differences. One of the biggest differences is that the 12 included monthly calendars are now 2-page spreads rather than one as before. However, they are still all together in the book with the weekly overviews and plans all following.
There are 12 monthly spreads, but this series includes only 42 weeks in the regular version, but 52 weekly spreads in the minimalist version.
The weekly schedule and checklist now share a page, rather than being on facing pages as in the previous series. This allows the blank areas to be more usable with a weekly overview on one full page. The weekly schedule overview has spaces with the days of the week listed. Monday is at the top of the list, down to Sunday at the bottom.
The end-of-year reflections include pages for what went well in your year as well as curriculum reflections and plans for next year.
The Nature series is basically internally identical to the Mystic series mentioned above. These Notebooks were all released in 2023. The differences come in their cover designs. They also now include some thematic doodles within the pages of the planner, just to decorate some of the blank spaces. These doodles are different between series but are not obtrusive on the page.
The Nature series of the Schoolnest Homeschool Lesson Planning Notebook is a wonderful planner with a lot of room to make it your own.
